A very strong reminder came back to me the other day, just when I needed it. Maybe you need it too right now.
In the Quran, Allah says:
“Oh, surely the friends of Allah have nothing to fear, nor shall they grieve – the ones who believe and are God-fearing.” (Yunus 62-63)
And I thought to myself, if I am in a state of fear or grief that means my faith and taqwa is getting low. A person is supposed be really in a state of worry for only a few things; the fear and grief of hellfire, death, grave, sins and not doing good deeds etc. But even these things, you’re not supposed to take them to your heart such that you go into depression and become inactive. You need to do something about it. Other than that, be cool and calm. Never panic because Allah will do it! :)
Those friends of Allah, they have this trust in Him which fills their heart with contentment and you can see it on their faces. (Ever seen such a person? I have. ;)) They don’t stress out because they know “weak are the pursuer and pursued”. One human depending/expecting/relying on the other is like a weakling bird seeking support of another weakling. SubhanAllah!
But only He can and will provide for you!
And then those friends of Allah, they’re not doing anything for this world. Any good that they do apparently for the world, it’s actually for the sake of Allah. Not for the sake of people. They know the major purpose is working towards their own personal salvation. That is the most important thing.
At the end of the day, we are individuals so worry more about your own self and leave the rest on Allah. If you are right then Allah will help and be your friend and you will neither have fear nor grief. Peace will fall down upon you in the form of angels. Because “Indeed, those who have said, “Our Lord is Allah ” and then remained on a right course – the angels will descend upon them, [saying], “Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised. We [angels] were your allies in worldly life and [are so] in the Hereafter. And you will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you request [or wish] As accommodation from a [Lord who is] Forgiving and Merciful.”” (Fussilat 30-32)
Check yourself! How many times have you cried for other things in the past month and how many times when you felt scared of the hellfire while reading the Quran? Did you panic in the latter case? If not, then you are in grave danger. Worry about THAT first. And make dua to Allah for it (because mankind was created weak, we can’t do it ourselves) and then try your best, work on it.
Cut down your extra activities that seem innocent and harmless, even good and righteous but are actually stopping you from the real thing. Remember if your connection with Allah is not right, if your inner is flawed and you don’t pay heed to it, you’re not really doing any good.
